【摘要】:Separationandidentificationofstabilizersusedinthemanufactureofpolypropyleneisnecessaryinordertocorrelateperformancepropertieswithpolymercomposition.Thistestmethodprovidesameanstodetermineerucamideslip,VitaminE,Irgafos168,Irganox3114,Irganox1010,andIrganox1076levelsinpolypropylenesamples.Thistestmethodisalsoapplicableforthedeterminationofotherantioxidants,suchasUltranox626,Ethanox330,SantanoxR,andBHT,buttheapplicabilityofthistestmethodhasnotbeeninvestigatedfortheseantioxidants.Theadditive-extractionprocedureismadeeffectivebytheinsolubilityofthepolymersampleinsolventsgenerallyusedforliquidchromatographicanalysis.Underoptimumconditions,thelowestlevelofdetectionforaphenolicantioxidantisapproximately2ppm.Note28212;Othermethodsthathavebeenusedsuccessfullytoremoveadditivesfromtheplasticsmatrixincludethinfilm,microwave,ultrasonic,andsupercriticalfluidextractions.OthermethodshavebeenusedsuccessfullytoseparateadditivesincludingSFCandcapillaryGC.Irgafos168isaphosphiteantioxidant.Phosphitesareknowntoundergobothoxidationandhydrolysisreactions.LessIrgafos168willbedeterminedinthepolymerwhenoxidationoccursduringprocessing.TheHPLCseparationiscapableofseparatingthephosphite,phosphate(oxidationproduct),andhydrolysisproductandquantifythemifstandardsareobtained.Nosignificantbreakdownofthephosphiteantioxidanthasbeenseenduetoeitherextractiontechniqueortheseparationpresentedinthisstandard.1.1Thistestmethodcoversaliquid-chromatographicprocedurefortheseparationofsomeadditivescurrentlyusedinpolypropylene.Theseadditivesareextractedwithacyclohexane:methylenechloridemixtureusingeitherrefluxorultrasonicbathpriortoliquid-chromatographicseparation.Theultravioletabsorbance(200nm)ofthecompound(s)ismeasured,andquantitationisperformedusingtheinternalstandardmethod.1.2Thisstandarddoesnotpurporttoaddressallofthesafetyconcerns,ifany,associatedwithitsuse.Itistheresponsibilityoftheuserofthisstandardtoestablishappropriatesafetyandhealthpracticesanddeterminetheapplicabilityofregulatorylimitationspriortouse.SpecificprecautionarystatementsaregiveninSection9.Note18212;ThereisnoknownISOequivalenttothistestmethod.
